A Meaningful Alternative for Your Property
Donating real estate can turn an underused, inherited, appreciated, or burdensome property into support for TDA’s charitable mission, vision, services and programs. Depending on the property, TDA may retain it for a mission-related use or sell it and use the proceeds to advance affordable housing and community stability.
A real estate gift may also provide financial or charitable benefits depending on individual circumstances and the structure of the gift. TDA considers each property individually.
Property TDA May Consider
Homes, condominiums, and townhomes; rental and multifamily properties; affordable housing properties; commercial and mixed-use real estate; vacant land, farms, and acreage; and other marketable real property.
Tell Us About the Property
Complete our short online form. It should take only a few minutes, and you do not need an appraisal or supporting documents to get started.
Talk With TDA
A TDA representative will review the basic information and contact you to learn more. If the property may be a fit, we will provide a detailed questionnaire and explain the next steps.
Review and Decision
TDA will complete appropriate due diligence before deciding whether to accept a proposed gift. This may include reviewing title, debt, environmental conditions, physical condition, tenants, financial performance, regulatory restrictions, and other matters.
Ways to Give Real Estate
An outright gift of the property; a possible bargain sale to TDA for less than fair market value; a possible retained life estate involving a qualifying personal residence or farm; or a gift made through an estate or trust. Not every structure or property will qualify. TDA evaluates proposed gifts individually and may decline a property in its discretion.
