The Mile-High City of Denver, Colorado, played host to the Trinity Development Alliance (TDA) Board of Directors meeting on July 17-18, 2025. The directors, arriving  from Georgia, Michigan, Virginia, Tennessee and Washington State were all in attendance to plan and connect with present and future organizational goals and strategies. The centerpieces of the discussion were continuing, refining and developing TDA’s mission, vision, and passion around affordable housing with heart, meeting people and communities where they are, and creating sustainable and win-win solutions for affordable housing, communities, and community partners alike.

The TDA team developed a one, three, and five year strategic plan that looks to expand access to sustainable and affordable housing, create pathways for residents to achieve upward financial mobility, and support resident transition to market-rate housing.

For year one, TDA is at the ready to create a foundation and capacity building activities centering around property acquisitions or preservations, securing funding means, hiring key staff, setting up the beginning stages of TDA’s own development project, launch a Resident Services pilot program for a Washington State property, and maintain operational efficiency to achieve the best results possible.

Looking ahead to year three, TDA aims to grow their portfolio significantly and embed services across properties with workforce development support.

At the five year mark, the organization’s goals are to develop a TDA property management team, implemented into all new developments and provide Resident Service for all TDA owned properties. It is through these plans and goals that TDA’s objective is to achieve giving people and communities a hand up through financial literacy, job readiness, education and case management for families in transition. Additionally, TDA would love to serve in a mentoring capacity and have TDA programs, services and processes replicated in other organizations throughout the U.S.

There is more.

In addition to planning, the TDA Board of Directors also had the opportunity to visit two properties, Milliken Apartments and Platteville Apartments,  where TDA is the limited partner. They also met with a new affordable housing partner, DJC Management, Inc., about being the nonprofit partner on a property rehabilitation project in Stanwood, Washington.

The TDA Team came away from this event energized and excited for the future.

“By tapping into a variety of funding structures and sources, TDA is well-positioned to meet, and exceed, its strategic goals, mission and vision,” says Supita Gupta, TDA Board Director and Treasurer. “I see our future on the national stage, ready to showcase a good, well-resourced product and services that meets people where they are.”

TDA CEO Kirsten Dernbach echoes those thoughts.

“At TDA, we want to put heart, kindness, and care into everything we do, while at the same time, building strong partnerships, creating fiscal responsibility and balance, and adding value to everything we do and produce.”

“People in rural communities are struggling, not just financially, but with grave uncertainty for the future. I see TDA as a means to bridge that gap between uncertainty and a bright future, sharing a clearer path forward and walking shoulder-to-shoulder along the way,” shares Kirsten. “Through sustainability, sound resources, tools and programs, along with dynamic partnerships, we can truly make positive and effective change for the better!”

She continues, “I am so proud of our TDA Directors, who are deeply committed, passionate and ready to roll up their sleeves and do the work. Together, along with our wonderful community partners and generous supporters, funders and donors, we can make amazing things happen today and into the future.”
