Donors make tax deductible contributions to their DAF account, they can invest the money once in the account and then make grants over time.

advance our mission to preserve affordable housing and support stable, sustainable communities.

If you have a donor-advised fund (DAF), you can recommend a grant to Trinity Development Alliance and designate your gift to the Housing Preservation Fund.

What Is a Donor-Advised Fund?

A donor-advised fund is a charitable giving account administered by a sponsoring organization, such as a community foundation or financial institution. You contribute to the fund, and you can recommend grants to eligible nonprofit organizations over time. A DAF offers a convenient way to manage your charitable giving and support the causes that
matter most to you.

How to Recommend a Grant

1. Log in to your DAF account. Access your account through your sponsoring
organization.
2. Select Trinity Development Alliance. Search for our organization by name and confirm
the recipient details provided by your DAF sponsor.
3. Enter your grant amount. Choose the amount you would like to recommend.
4. Designate your gift. In the grant purpose, designation, or recommendation notes field,
enter: “Housing Preservation Fund.”
5. Submit your recommendation. Your DAF sponsor will review and process the grant
according to its procedures.

Designating Your Gift to the Housing Preservation Fund

To help ensure your grant supports the intended purpose, please include Housing
Preservation Fund in the designation or grant notes field when submitting your
recommendation.

Gifts designated to this fund support Trinity Development Alliance’s work to preserve and
sustain affordable housing, helping communities maintain safe, stable, and affordable homes.

If your DAF sponsor does not offer a designation field, please contact us so we can help you
communicate your giving intention.

Important Information for DAF Donors

  • Grant approval: Grant recommendations are subject to review and approval by your DAF sponsoring organization
  • Personal benefits: DAF grants should not be used to pay for event tickets, goods, services, or other personal benefits.
  • Acknowledgment: You may request that your DAF sponsor include your name and contact information with the grant so TDA can properly acknowledge your support.

  • Tax documentation: Your charitable contribution to the DAF is generally documented by the sponsoring organization when you contribute to the fund. A subsequent grant from the DAF to TDA is not a separate personal charitable contribution for tax-deduction purposes. Please consult your tax advisor regarding your individual circumstances.
